The Challenge

The Clinton Global Initiative wanted to create an online destination for their global development and humanitarian work — making their organization more accessible to a larger community beyond their annual gatherings.

“It’s clear that future of impact is becoming a reality in Africa.”

The Solution

Matter Unlimited created a social impact platform  — leveraging virtual reality, filmmaking, and social media — to evolve the organization beyond a strictly events-based entity into a 365-day information platform.

Our Impact

The new platform, which focused on Clinton Global Initiative’s 3,200 commitments to action, was unveiled at the CGI Annual Meeting and the Matter Unlimited-produced VR film series “Inside Impact: East Africa” was shared widely across digital channels including in TechCrunch and Fast Company and went on to be nominated for an Emmy.

Inside Impact: East Africa is a virtual reality film we created to take viewers on a journey with President Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and the Clinton Global Initiative for an unforgettable first-hand look at CGI commitments in Kenya and Tanzania.

We also leveraged the power of virtual reality to create a film that enabled viewers to experience the impact of CGI commitments first hand. Viewers were greeted by President Clinton at his desk and then taken on a journey through East Africa.

The film premiered as an activation for the CGI Annual Meeting in 2015 and was made available on Facebook 360and YouTube 360 as well as on the Oculus Platform. The VR film was shared widely across digital channels with a high volume of earned media pick up and won awards at various international film and advertising festivals including an Emmy nomination in 2016.
